2012 End-of-Year Concert Message

2012 OVS End-of-Year
“Star Appeal – We all have it!” Concert

Act One opened with an inspiring poem “The Star is there Within You” written especially for the concert by Daniel Ivinson. The poem was proceeded by Ofelia’s performance of the Emmy Award winning song written by Albert Hammond and John Bettis and recorded by Whitney Houston for the 1988 Olympics, “One Moment in Time”. To Attend or to Not Attend When Sick

If you have a sore throat, hoarse voice, are not contagious and can still function normally, you can still attend your lessons.

If you are ill and have a viral or bacterial infection, do not attend your lessons until you are in the all clear. If you have been on antibiotics, you can attend your lessons after 72 hours of being on antibiotics but only if your symptoms are getting better. Continue reading

My Purpose as a Vocal Coach

My first note to vocal students and to those of you considering undertaking vocal instruction is that developing into a better singer is a lot more in depth than just singing songs. It is the same concept as how you would go about learning to acquire any skill from learning to play a sport, drive a car, dance, play the piano etc. Learning how to do something well involves regular practise and repetition, understanding and application. A Little Note About Ofelia

Ofelia works as a Contemporary Vocal Coach and Performer. Ofelia received her formal qualifications at the Queensland Conservatorium where she attained a Bachelor of Music Majoring in Jazz/Contemporary Voice in 2001. Studying Vocal Pedagogy in her fourth year gave Ofelia a solid foundation to further develop her skills as a Vocal Instructor.
